SAT Class Opportunity for Juniors

The Princeton Review has offered Lassiter Junior students a deeply discounted rate of $375 for a three month course to be held at Lassiter.  This includes a thorough review of all math, reading and writing skills tested on the SAT - including the student-written essay.  They also teach test-taking techniques.  The tuition covers all the work they do, including 24 hours of classroom instruction and three diagnostic tests.  To view the schedule and to register for this class, please visit www.princetonreview.com and look under SAT and your zip code.  You may also enroll by calling the Princeton Review office at 404-645-7820.

 

"Take Charge of your Academic Future" - A Workshop

 
The Lassiter High School PTSA is proud to provide the second installment of "Reaching out to our Community" - a series of workshops, forums, and seminars, tackling issues within our community of students, teachers, and parents. Our next forum will be "Take Charge of Your Academic Future" facilitated by Academic Solutions Owner, Jennifer Hoyer.  The forum will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 6:30 PM, Lassiter High School Media Center. Session is presented free of charge and open to the entire communty, however material to be covered is best suited for 8th to 10th grade students and parents. All attending students MUST be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian. RSVP is required to hazelperez@comcast.net.

Cobb Virtual Academy Registration

 

There are many benefits to taking an online course while in high school. Most post-secondary experiences will require an online learning component; CVA will give students exposure to environment and assist students in developing time management skills. It will also build skills students need to compete in a 21^st century work environment as well as allow students to repeat failed courses or resolve scheduling conflicts.

Tuition for .5 unit courses is $275 and $550 for a 1.0 unit course.  A student taking a .5 unit course should be able to devote 5 - 10 hours per week to completing coursework.  Student taking a 1 unit course should be able to devote 10 - 15 hours per week to completing coursework.

 

While the courses are available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, students and parents should be aware that there are specified deadlines for course work and that students will also be required to attend Live Classroom instructional sessions.  Students are also responsible to insure that their home computers meet the technical requirements specified on our website to be able to access and use all informational components posted in their course.

Delegates needed for Cobb Alcohol Taskforce Youth Council 2010

The Cobb Alcohol Taskforce is launching a new Youth Council in 2010. This Youth Council will be a youth led effort and youth will be in charge.

The youth delegates will attend a Youth Council Summit in February and will be provided with leadership training and opportunities for youth to claim their voice and vision for changing alcohol environments in their communities.

It is envisioned that the Youth Council Delegates will meet at least 2 times a year and will be considered members of the Cobb Alcohol Taskforce and as such will be provided opportunities to attend State and National Conferences.
